This aircraft shell was based on the F-86
fighter. I think it was designated the F-70 (I can't remember!)
It was experimental only. It was designed to be carried in the bomb
bay of a B-36.
Note the slanted wings in the bottom picture of this series. The
idea was to be able to deploy and later recover this aircraft from the
B-36 while in flight.
You can see it's current condition. The plan is to someday restore
this aircraft and display it with the B-36. I was told that this
time frame would be between 10-15 years. I hope to be able to see
it in the museum someday!
