| Seeburg Style "E" w/Violin Pipes A-roll | |
|
Originally on a route operated by J.H. Kelly. It was acquired by the Sanders of The Musical Museum in the 60's. It had been stored on a side porch for several years and while not directly exposed to the elements, it certainly had suffered from the ravages of mother nature. It was totally disassembled at the Musical Museum where they determined that they did not want to put so much effort in a restoration when they had so many other jobs ahead of them.
We acquired this from the Musical Museum in the 80's; the veneer was literally hanging in shreds, the soundboard had huge splits and was away from the ribs as much as 8" in places. The many cardboard boxes contained the rest of our jigsaw puzzle. Today it again plays with that great sound the early Seeburgs are noted for. |
| This is the Seeburg as we acquired it. Notice the light line running diagonally under the bridge; this is a large split. At the bottom the left corner, the soundboard had buckled and pulled away from the ribs as much as 8". |
