This model organ plays the 21 1/4" wide roll and contains 41 notes. The pump pedals provide vacuum to sound the reeds as well as spin the large heavy flywheel, that powers the gears which drive the rolls. The example seen here is an early example made by the E.P. Needham Co. As in later organs, there is no rewind. Instead, when rewind is desired, the roll is moved to the back of the machine, where both the take up and the drive spools fit another set of gears that spin the roll in the opposite direction, while playing a second roll in the normal position.
