All Classes 11yrs. - Adults unless otherwise noted.

MUSIC COURSES:

Tahitian Drumming with Kimo Knox meets on Sundays 2 times per month. Coming soon.

Hawaiian Ukulele with Kimo Knox meets on Sundays 2 times per month.

Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar with Kimo Knox meets on Sundays 2 times per month.

Hawaiian 12 String Slack Key Guitar with Kimo Knox meets on Sundays 2 times per month.

REGULAR COURSES:  Ten month classes by interview....

Children’s Hula I: (4-9 yrs.) Hula technique and dances are introduced. Hula implements are introduced.

Adult Hula I: The Cultural Dance of Hawai'i is taught in depth giving all student levels a good understanding and foundation of authentic Hula. A study of basic to more advanced Hula technique is taught along with history and culture of the Hawaiian people. Ages 10 years-Adults...Beginners are welcome!

Tahitian Dance: The cultural dance of Tahiti is very aerobic and exciting. A study of basic to more advanced Tahitian dance steps-giving all student levels a good understanding and foundation of the dance. Dance to the Beat of the Tahitian Drummers.

Hula Choreography I: This class is mandatory for GK Performance students but is open to other students who would like to learn some of Kumu’s dances. Adult Hula I must be taken with this class.

Adult Hula II: The Cultural Dance of Hawaii is taught in depth giving all student levels a good understanding and foundation of authentic Hula. A study of basic to more advanced Hula technique is taught along with history and culture of the Hawaiian people.

COURSES BY INVITATION ONLY: Intermediate Levels by Interview/Audition or Graduation

Chants/Hula Kahiko:  Traditional and Kumu's Original Chants are taught in the Hawaiian language. By Kumu's invitation only.

Hula Choreography II: Hawaiian Dances are taught to be performed at various events in Gallery Kauai's Ohana Performance Group. By Kumu's invitation only.

The Hula Soup This class was developed by Kumu Victoria Ka'iulani. It focuses on protocol and in helping Hula students develop their inner voice & creativity needed to dance the Hula. By Kumu's invitation only. Copyrighted

Alaka’i Advanced Training: Current students only by promotion-“Alaka’i In Training“ must take all appropriate classes. By Kumu's invitation only.

Maori Poi: Cultural implement/dance of New Zealand-based on every day activities used to strengthen the hand, wrist and arm muscles. In Ancient times - Warriors trained with Poi for strength and dexterity and women for strength in planting crops. Today...Poi is an implement used to tell the Maori history and perpetuate their culture. Beginning twirling techniques are taught to GK  Intermediate Hula Haumana to strengthen arms and upper body for Hula.
