The Ice Bats started out the evening playing as soft as the ice. Allowing a host of Minneapolis Fire players to swarm the net and push a early goal past Ross "Stopper" Hedin.

Another Fire goal shortly followed and the Ice Bats trailed two to nothing at the half time.

The Ice Bat's main accomplishment was Jim "Big Stick" Lemire's getting a two minutes roughing penalty.

The Ice Bats lost Tom Quirk early in the game when a fall to the ice resulted in a bloody nose.

Paul Wolfram's arrival late in the first half did not bring the hoped for boost to the Bat's game.

The Fire scored their third goal on a blistering slap-shot from an impossible angle.

The Ice Bat offensive highlight was Jim "Big Stick" Lemire's score. Taking a long pass up the middle of the ice and walking in on the Fire's goalie. Then firing the ball over the goalies shoulder. Scoring the Bats only goal which briefly cut the Fire's lead to three to one. John Harris claimed an assist on the goal.

But the Fire was quickly bring the score back to the four to one final.

Garth T. better known as the "The Rat" repeatedly gained the Ice Bats power-play opportunities by goading the Minneapolis Fire into knocking him down. But the Bats were unable to capitalize on these opportunities.

Garth T. also setup Paul Wolfram with a great scoring opportunity when he put the ball on Wolfram's broom while he stood in front of a half-open net. But a off balance Wolfram sent the shot wide of the goal.
