Margaret A. McGrath

 

The Margaret A. McGrath Charitable Foundation Scholarship Fund was established in October 2004.  Margaret A. McGrath established this scholarship fund under her will to benefit students from the towns of Sweden and Hamlin, NY.  Ms. McGrath strongly believed in the value of education.  She devoted 37 years of her life to teaching and retired from the Penfield Central School District as the chairwoman of the business department.

The Scholarships

 

Marie Dollard McGrath Scholarship

 

This scholarship is in honor of Ms. McGrath’s mother, Marie Dollard McGrath, who taught elementary students in the City of Rochester School District. The scholarship is for students majoring in elementary education at an accredited college or university.  The scholarship is for tuition only.

 

 

 

Philip and Margaret Dollard Scholarship

 

This scholarship is in honor of Ms. McGrath’s grandparents, Philip and Margaret Dollard, who operated a successful business in the Town of Hamlin, NY.

 

The scholarship is for students majoring in business at an accredited college or university.  The scholarship is for tuition only.

Scholarship Criteria

 

¨Applicant must be a resident of the Town of Sweden or Hamlin, New York with a minimum of 2 years of residency.

 

¨Applicant should have maintained at least a “B” or numerical equivalent grade point average.

 

¨Applicant should be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university with a major in elementary education or business.

 

¨Applicant should demonstrate strong moral character, clear sense of purpose, maturity and leadership ability as evidenced by recommendations.

 

¨Applicant should demonstrate financial need.

 

 

 

Scholarship recipients shall not be selected or rejected on the basis of their race, religion, natural or ethnic origin or other illegally discriminating criteria.
