Trinity’s Mission Statement: “In grateful response to God’s grace and empowered by the Holy Spirit through Word and Sacraments, the mission of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hoffman, Illinois is to make known the love of Christ by word and deed within our congregation, community and the world (John 20:23, 1 Peter 2:9, Matthew 28:18-20). Our congregation’s members will be equipped through the Word of God to live as witnesses of Christ’s love.”

Sunday Morning Bible Class “Heroes of the Faith” – This week we will finish our look at Noah, and then move on to see how God used Abraham and Sarah to establish His promise to start a whole new nation. Abraham moved to the promised land by faith alone. Abraham’s life is a great example of a man who left everything behind, and went forward in life trusting in God’s promises. Darby Burger will be serving coffee today.  Oct. 4th Donna & Diana Hemminghaus will serve.

Living with Change – There is still time to participate in this evening class. Our next get together for this topical study will be this Monday, Sept. 28th at 6:30 pm here at the church. After our Monday get together this group will meet again on Tuesday, Oct. 13th, 20th, and 27th. All are welcome.

Life Night – The next High School Life Night is scheduled at the Watkins home on Sunday, Sept. 27th at 6:30 pm. All High School youth, whether from our congregation or not, are invited to come for a time of discussion, food, and devotions.

The Adult Information Class – We are now meeting Saturday nights starting at 7:15 pm starting Oct. 3rd. Anyone interested in a refresher on essential Christian teachings or in joining the congregation are invited to join in this class.

What happens when the three months are up on our $25,000 operating loan? As of today this loan stands at $17,000 and may go down further before the October 24th three month deadline. If this special loan is not paid off completely it will be rolled into our general operating debt with now stands at $74,800. Praise be to God for His providential care shown toward this congregation and school.

October church newsletter deadline – Monday, September 28th.

Trinity Lutheran School/PTL Open House – Tues., Sept. 29th at 6:30 pm. Come meet the teachers, look at the classrooms & enjoy the fellowship.

Do you know how busy teenagers are? WELL, the teens in our church are never too busy for God. We are always thinking of new ways to serve others and as a result serve the Lord. In order to do all of these activities with the youth it takes a team of adults to make things run smoothly. We need a team of youth leaders. We are really in need of some more help. Kimberly Harrison has taken another position and will no longer be helping us Because of her young children and other commitments, Kimberly Wolter has also asked to stop being a leader for a while. She has promised to get involved again when her children get older! If you want to be a part of leading this great group of Christian youth please contact Angie at 335-2227.

Do you have lots of aluminum soda cans? Well, the Youth Group would like to help you recycle them. Please save them and bring them to the school parking lot the weekend of Oct. 17th & 18th. Mr. Zimmermann will be bringing his truck, so let’s see if we can fill it up!

                                                                                                                                    Thanks, Youth Group

The Youth Group is selling Yankee Candles for a short period of time. See a youth group member after church to order or look online at www.yankeefundraising.com and call a youth group member or Angie at 335-2227 and we will take your order. Our selling time is only until Oct. 1st, so help us out today. We will use this money to help pay for our trip to the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans next summer where we will be serving the community and worshiping our Lord with 30,000 other Lutherans!
