"Bridging the world to God through the gospel of Jesus Christ"

8 • Lesson Eight

D. The soul in death
“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him” (Ezekiel 18:20).

1. The soul of the lost person goes to hell

Psalms 16:10; 86:13; Proverbs 23:13–14; Matthew 10:28; Acts 2:31

2. In this age, the soul of the saved person goes to a place in heaven, usually paradise and there waits for the resurrection to be reunited with the glorified body

Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 12:2–4; Revelation 2:7; 6:9–11

E. The spirit in life
“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law”
(Galatians 5:17–18).

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:22–25).
