1. Study daily And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so (Acts 17:1011). 2. Study objectively And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:410). 3. Four ways by which God communicates with us a. Through the Word of God: 1 John 5:911, 13 b. Through other people: Nehemiah 8:58; Jeremiah 1:7 c. Through the circumstances of life (God will open and close doors if we ask Him to): Colossians 4:3; Revelation 3:78 d. Through His still, small voice. When reading your Bible, the Lord may impress some particular verse upon you such that you will want to apply it to your life in some special situation. This isnt, however, the only way he may speak: 1 Kings 19:1112 B. Through prayerwe speak to God. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking (Matthew 6:67).
