Christianity: A Daily Walk with Jesus
“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath ap-peared
to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness
and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and
godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope,
and the glorious appearing of the great God and our
Saviour Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:11–13).

Living as a Christian in a lost world can be a very tough job if we try to do it in our own strength. We must have God’s help to be effective. It is therefore imperative that we quickly develop a close and proper relationship with Him. The apostle James stated it like this:

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded” (James 4:8).

I. Building a Personal Relationship With Your God
A. Through Bible study—God speaks to us

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds” (Hebrews 1:1–2).

You should find a place and time that is free of distraction where you can read your Bible every day. You now have a powerful enemy, the Devil, who will use every means at his disposal to prevent you from concentrating on and learning from the Scriptures. He knows that the more you read your Bible and pray, the less likely it is that he can make you ineffective. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
