“And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you,
who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be
forward a year ago” (2 Corinthians 8:10).
As we saw in the previous lesson, it is very important for every child
of God to understand that he is needed to fulfill the ministry requirements
of the Church. It is important for each Christian to recognize his own
importance. On the other hand, it is also important for each Christian
to recognize that the job is much bigger than the individual. Each of
us is just a tiny part in our God’s great master plan of redemption.
The corporate Church is charged with taking the gospel to all the world
(Matthew 24:14) and the needs of that mission must supersede all our personal
needs or desires. Every thing we do, every decision we make, must take
into account that greater mission—the great commission (Matthew 28:19–
20).
