The Christian in a Lost World: For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect (Matthew 24:24). It is clearly evident that the vast majority of people in the world are lost and on their way to hell. A very optimistic guess might put the total number of Born Again Christians at about 5% of the worlds population. It is little wonder then if Christians, constantly being assaulted with the philosophies of the world, lose sight of the truths of Gods Word. We must zealously guard the faith which was once delivered unto the saints (Jude 3). I. Biblical Warnings of Apostasy in the Last Days Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition (2 Thessalonians 2:3). There is a popular belief among many churchmen that the world is in the midst of the greatest revival of true Christianity of all time. This idea however, stands in stark contrast to the testimony of the scriptures regarding these last times (Hebrews1:2; 1 Peter 1:20). The scriptures state emphatically that apostasy will characterize our Church Age. The fact that people believe they are seeing such a revival is really an indication of how far the apostasy foretold in the scriptures has gone. These churchmen are willing to call almost anything true Christianity in the interest of fostering unity and brotherly love. The Bible, on the other hand, plainly states that believers enter in at the strait gate and few there be that find it (Matthew 7:1314). Guarding Against Apostasy
