"Bridging the world to God through the gospel of Jesus Christ"

Premillennialism and the Second Coming of Christ • 7

A partial listing of events to watch for increases in follows:

• False christs (lord Maitreya, the Dalai Lama, David Koresh, etc.)
• War (see 20th century history)
• Famine (most major famines in last 200 years)
• Earthquakes (see above)
• Pestilence (cancer, heart disease, AIDS, killer storms, floods, etc.)
• Unrest/lawlessness (see crime statistics for any country, city, last 30 years)
• Apostasy/Satanic interest (watch the news, attend a variety of churches)

There are other signs that particularly point to the final stage of Christ’s coming (the actual Advent as opposed to raptures, etc.) or refer to Israel’s relations with the nations.

Isaiah 13:23; Jeremiah 46–51; Ezekiel 25–39

D. The prewrath rapture for the Church
Rapture is a subject that the Bible definitely and emphatically deals with. It is defined in 1 Corinthians 15:51–52 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18.

Many examples are given from Enoch to Elijah to Jesus Christ (Genesis 5:24; 2 Kings 2:11; Acts 1:9; 2 Corinthians 12:2; Revelation 4:1). Being raptured is an exciting concept because those who experience it will never have to die in order to enter the next life. Their body will be changed instantaneously into a “glorified” body that cannot die and they will be taken directly to heaven. From then on they will ever be with the Lord Jesus. Despite all this, it is an emotionally charged issue within the Church and many refuse to accept its existence. Among those that accept the rapture, its timing is an issue of intense debate. This may be in part because there are actually two raptures—one at the start of the tribulation, and one at the midpoint of the tribulation.

There is, however, strong evidence that at least part of the Church will go up in the pretribulation, or prewrath, rapture. Consider the following verses: Zephaniah 2:3; Isaiah 57:1; Matthew 24:43–44; 1 Thessalonians 1:10; 5:1–10..
