Salvation
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation
to every one that believeth; to the Jew first,
and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16).
This lesson is written under the assumption that you, the disciple,
have been saved or born again. If you have not had this experience then
it is our prayer that this lesson will be used of God to bring you to salvation.
I. What Is Salvation?
A. Passing from death to life
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life,
and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life (John 5:24).
B. Escaping hell (and the lake of fire) and gaining heaven
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast
into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15).
C. Turning from a life devoted to serving self to a life devoted
to serving God according to the teachings of His Son Jesus Christ
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not
worthy of me (Matthew 10:38).
D. Adoption into the family of God
To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive
the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the
Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father (Galatians
4:56).
