| How
It All Began
In 1988, missionary Tommy Tillman came to speak at Ron's home church. As he presented his ministry to the lepers of Thailand, God moved the heart of Ron Giannetto to help. He began to collect money at work in order to purchase tape recorders, tapes and New Testaments to send to Brother Tommy. He collected $600 from his coworkers! After recieving the materials, Tommy send pictures of the people with their new recorders and tapes. Ron showed these to his coworkers and they were truly moved with compassion. They decided to continue raising money for God's work. This time the desire was to print the gospel of John and the book of Romans in a combined format tthat could be given out free. In the first year they raised $30,000. Many thousands were printed and given away - just as Ron had envisioned. That was just the beginning of this incredible story! Someone To Guide Me While reading Acts 8, the Lord spoke to Ron's heart: this book with John and Romans is nice, but there is no guide to show people what they are about. Ron began to develop a simple tract with illustrations to show them how they could be saved. Tens of thousands were printed and given away. Responses began coming in from everywhere. As time went on, the booklet was reduced to pocket size. Since the initial printing over 3,000,000 of these Little Red Books have been printed and given away. God's "Little Red Book"? Where did the name Little Red Book come from? When Mao Zedong became the leader of China, he wrote The Thoughts of Chairman Mao. Everyone in China was required to carry this book or risk being arrested. It was widely known as the "little red book." With this book, the country of China was converted to Communism in just one year. If this could happen, why couldn't the world be won over to God by a different "Little Red Book" - one that honors the Lord instead? |
