The RRISCC February meeting is
scheduled to be held in Frank
& Dee Cabron's home on Tuesday the 10th at 7:30
pm. A Rochester-area team of five (Frank Cabron, Bill Hearne,
Russ McKnight & Charlie and Sara Sabatine) in late July took a
6-day trip to climb Gannett Peak (13,804) - the high point of
Wyoming.
The summit day took a mere 32 hours(!!) as they were forced to make an
unplanned overnight bivouac. "It was a taxing trip, but a lot of
fun". "The Wind River Range is beautiful!" They
will share photos and stories they experienced along last summer's
journey in pursuit of successfully climbing that state's
very long and difficult highpointer. Do come along
for an armchair
view of this spectacular range as Bill Hearne (primarily) presents the
salient events in words and photograpic content.
Here are a couple of Bill's
photos:
Pertinent
factoids about the mountain/climb and a topo map can be gleaned from the
Pinedale Online!
website.
Directions to Frank's house at 152 Park Rd.
From Route 490 East of Rochester, take the Bushnell's Basin exit. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto the Pittsford-Victor Road (Route 96). After 0.7 miles turn right onto Park Road at the Powdermill Park sign. Drive 0.3 miles and turn left onto a private road at the "Mushroom House" (if you pass the fish hatchery, you've gone too far). Take the private road up the hill to the circle. He is down the second drive from the left. Park in his drive, around the circle, or in the fish hatchery parking lot. If you get lost or need assistance on the way, call Frank at: 585-248-2093.
Hope you will make a supreme effort to
gather at Frank & Dee's for this vivid occasion.
