The Lacona Volunteer Fire Department Mission is to protect life and property, a serious duty that can not happen without volunteers like you.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. -- Margaret Mead

For over 200 years, individuals have contributed their service to fire service in their community. These individuals bring to each department varied levels of education, experience and personalities. During their fire service, they create unique memories, friendships that last a lifetime, and most important, each individual builds a sense of pride that comes from participating in a most respected service.
