The BEGINNING
Beginning : from the Greek word arche which means"the beginning, origin, commencement, or rule, of some action or event, or thing."
This title of Jesus, the Beginning, has similar meaning as the first part of the title the Beginning and the End (which see). However, the context within the verses quoted specify two specifically distinct attributes implied of Christ Jesus.
In Colossians, Jesus is the Beginning of what follows: the Firstborn from the Dead (which see). Thus, Jesus. through His resurrection, is the Beginning, and origin of resurrection life for all who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior; both those believers who have physically died in Christ, and those who are alive at His second coming. It is as Jesus said:
"I am the Resurrection, and the Life; he who believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever is alive and believes in Me shall never die.". (John 11:25-26)
In Revelation Jesus is the Beginning of the Creation of God. Consider these verses:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was Life; and the Life was the Light of men." (John 1:1-4)
"For by Him (Jesus) all things were created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers; all things were created by Him, and for Him. And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. (Colossians 1:16-17)
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has ordained beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)
Jesus is the Beginning of all Gods' creation; and especially people, who have been made in the image of God; created in Christ Jesus for good works. And He will be the Beginning and source of our everlasting resurrected life at the end of this age.
