AUTHOR OF LIFE
"And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, 'You men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? And why do you look so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we have made this man to walk? The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. But you denied the Holy One and the Just One, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; and killed the Author of Life, whom God has raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses. It is His (Jesus) Name, through faith in His Name, which has made this man strong, whom you see and know; yes, the faith which is through Him has given him this perfect wellness in the presence of you all. And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance you did it, as did also your rulers. But those things, which God beforehand had spoken by the mouth of all His prophets, that Christ should suffer, He has thus fulfilled. Therefore, repent and be converted, so that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." (Acts 3:12-15-19)
Author :from the Greek word archegos which means: author, originator, founder, prince, leader, captain; it literally means"First-leader" - and thus "does not strictly mean 'author' in the sense of a writer, but rather a person who is the originator, inventor, creator, pioneer, or founder of something new or unique; and who continues as it's leader and sustainer.
Life :from the Greek word zoes which means: Life; being alive or living in a physical sense; having the breath of life; also, especially having life in a spiritual and future eternal sense - having Spiritual Life - living in and for Christ Jesus; regeneration life; resurrection life; spiritual born again life.
Author of Life :In context, this title means: Jesus is the Originator of Life, and the Founder of Life, and the Sustainer of Life; and thus the Prince of Life, the First and Preeminent Leader of of all those believers who have received New Spiritual Life in and through Christ Jesus through His atoning death on the Cross for the complete forgiveness of our sins.
"In Him was Life; and the Life was the light of men." (John 1:4)
In this title, Life is referring to the everlasting-conscious Eternal Life that people receive when Jesus becomes their Savior. Speaking of Himself Jesus said:
"Truly, Truly, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever things He (the Father) does, these also the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and He will show Him greater works than these, so that you may marvel. For as the Father raises up the dead, and gives Life to them; even so the Son gives Life to whom He will. For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son; so that all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who has sent Him. Truly, truly, I say unto you, He whot hears My word, and believes on Him who sent Me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but has passed from death into Life. Truly, truly, I say unto you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they who hear shall live. For as the Father has Life in Himself, so has He given to the Son to have Life in Himself; and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in the which all who are in the graves shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; those who have done good, unto the Resurrection of Life; and those who have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." (John 5:19-29)
"The thief comes not, except for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come so that they might have Life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the Good Shepherd; and the Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep." (John 10:10-11)
"Then Martha said unto Jesus, 'Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know, that even now, whatever You will ask of God, God will give You it.' Jesus said unto her, 'Your brother shall rise again.' And Martha said unto Him, 'I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.' And Jesus said to her, 'I am the Resurrection, and the Life; he who believes in Me, though he dies, yet shall he live: And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? And she said unto Him, 'Yes, Lord; I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who comes into the world." (John 11:25-26) Jesus said,
"Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's House are many dwelling-places; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you; and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; so that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the Way you know. But Thomas said unto Him, 'Lord, we do not know where You are going; how can we know the way?' Jesus said unto him, 'I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man comes unto the Father, except through Me. If you had known Me, you should have known My Father also: and from henceforth you do know Him, and have seen Him.' ” (John 14:1-7) Consider again this verse:
“For as the Father raises up the dead, and gives-Life; even so the Son gives-Life to whom He will.” (John 5:21)
Gives-Life :from the Greek word zóopoieó which means: “to make alive; to quicken; to cause what is dead and inoperative to have life, even an abubdant Life empowered through the Spirit of Christ in us.” Jesus, the Author of life, reached out to us when we were spiritually dead and lifeless in sin, and Gives-Life to us through the Cross and by His Spirit who dwells in us! Consider these words written by the apostle Paul to the church in Rome: Pauls
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, did condemned sin in the flesh (through the death of Christ Jesus on the Cross) ; so that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For those who are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but those who are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is Life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not of Him. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is Life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then He who raised up Christ from the dead shall also give-Life to your mortal bodies by His Spirit who dwells in you." (Romans 8:1-11)Finaly, consider these exhortations:
"If you have been raised (made-alive) with Christ, then seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the Right Hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our Life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with Him in glory!" (Collosians 3:1-4)
"I am (we are) crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me." (Galations 2:20)
