Welcome to Jim's BitShop a (hopefully) useful Amiga Programmers resource. I've owned an Amiga (in one form or another) since 1986. My current Amiga is an AmigaOne PowerPC with a Radeon 9200SE Graphics Card (let's just say that the rest of the system is fully stuffed). I'm not one of those completely rabid Amiga devotees that see no use for any other type of hardware or software. This site concentrated on programming the Amiga in one of two environments that I used extensively: SAS-C (V6.58), gcc V2.95+ & CanDo! (V3.008) Even though the SAS-C compiler & CanDo! are no longer supported by the companies that brought them to market, not much else can beat them at what they do, especially in combination! Not all of my source code is available for download, just the stuff that works well at one particular aspect of the Amiga. When source code is included, I don't expect to make any money for it - but this also means that those that use it aren't going to get support anytime they need it! If you ever find a tab character in my source code, you can be assured that it escaped from me & was not put in there intentionally. Furthermore, my source code is formatted so that it can be read & understood (how do all of you that leave out whitespace ever expect to make sense of your code later? You know who you are!). In fact, ProgrammerAssist was written mainly because I got fed up with having to edit the source code of others before it could even be read, let alone understood! My programming philosophy is to make programs (mostly programmer tools) that allow the User to use the program without having to constantly refer to the included documentation. Whenever possible, User-defined settings are to be found in the accompanying program Icon file. For the most part, I try to follow the original Commodore Style Guide. I also try to ensure that the program code has extensive error checking & won't allow you to perform an operation that will result in loss of data. My Policies: 1. You will never be sent to another WebSite unless you click on a link (or your Back button) to leave this site. I absolutely HATE those sites that suddenly drop you somewhere you had no intention of going. 2. This site is mostly non-profit, so you won't be confronted with many banner (or any other kind of) Ads here. The world needs more refuges from the screaming marketplace, this is one of them. 3. I do accept donations (especially of source code) to make this a better site. 4. Suggestions on how to improve the site are welcome. 5. I am available to answer questions about programming the Amiga, but don't expect that I can answer any question. If I don't know the answer, I'll send that as a reply. |
