John Royce made a motion to donate $500 to Coats for Kids.  Katrina Trash seconded the motion.  Motion passed unanimously.

The Legal Defense Committee met and reviewed three cases.  One case concerning overtime pay for being redirected out of a scheduled shift swap was sent forward to arbitration.  All parties connected with these cases have been notified of the committee’s decision.

OLD BUSINESS

The medical, mail boat, code response, bad faith bargaining and IST grievances are going to arbitration.  The R&R grievance is still ongoing.  CCPOA headquarters staff indicates we have lots of pending arbitrations and the State is moving very slowly on picking arbitrators.

Additional grievances being processed include OT hiring practice/supervisors in dual appointments, redirection from approved shift swaps, and conditional/continuous bid posting with a new statement.

The grievance for Off Post Training was partially granted.

The Stand-by Vacation grievance was granted and stand-by vacations are now available.

On Friday, October 21st, Chuck Helton, CDC Rank and File Vice President from CCPOA, participated with Don in a grievance conference with the warden for several grievances.

NEW BUSINESS

A civil rights violation lawsuit has been filed against the department concerning Don Cathey being ordered, without explanation, to cease wearing a “Say No To Arnold” shirt.  CCPOA is pending a judge’s restraining order naming various departmental staff, including Rod Hickman and Kathy Prosper.

New grievances have been filed concerning lodging reimbursements for Reno transports, redirection of CO positions and absorbing, new bus procedures in R&R/redirecting staff from all over, and redirecting outside crews.

The Academy graduation list does not show any new officers scheduled to come to CCC in December.  There appears to be fifteen officers scheduled for arrival in February 2006.
