AntiAdages

I have a niggling suspicion that for every seemingly-wise Adage, there is another seemingly-wise AntiAdage with an opposite meaning.

Here's a sample of what I call AntiAdages:

Adage   AntiAdage
A penny saved is a penny earned. vs Penny wise, pound foolish.
God is in the details. vs You can't see the forest for the trees.
Haste makes waste. vs He who hesitates is lost.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. vs Nothing ventured - nothing gained.
The end does not justify the means. vs All's well that ends well.
Birds of a feather flock together. vs Opposites attract.
The best things in life are free. vs You get what you pay for.
You can't tell a book by its cover. vs If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and talks like a duck...
One sees the right hand of another only when one stands in their shoes. vs A perfectly open mind rests in a totally empty head.
If everybody remembered the past, nobody would ever forgive anybody. vs Those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. vs Beauty is only skin deep.
A mistake is worth more than rubies. vs If I had a nickel for every mistake I've made I'd be a rich man.
Laughter is the best medicine. vs Crying is the best medicine.
