Nick Caton scored on a breakaway unassisted with 1:06 left in the third period. Caton beat two defensemen to a loose puck at center ice, got away and fired a shot past Irondequoit goalie Brendan Kanaley that went off the post and in. "It was an extraordinary effort by him," McQuaid coach Al Vyverberg said. "The two defencemen had a couple steps lead on him and he just turned on the jets. He poked the puck away and got a gap between himself and the defensemen to get a shot off and score." The game was 0-0 going into the third period. Brent Sanderson put McQuaid up 1-0 34 seconds into the third period off assists from Caton and Mitch Bailey. Aaron Capellupo tied it for Irondequoit 2:30 later off assists from David York and Jordie Kirk. Kirk put the Eagles ahead off an assist from Mac Romal and Capellupo with 9:30 remaining. Blake Sanderson, Brent's brother, scored with 5:28 remaining to tie it 2-2. Bailey and Brent Sanderson had assists on the goal. Ian Harris made 29 saves for the Knights (7-14-3). Kanaley finished with 21 saves for Irondequoit (11-7-3). McQuaid plays second-seeded Geneva/Waterloo on Tuesday at ESL.

Jordy Kirk scored midway through the third period to break a 2-2 tie and lift Irondequoit at SUNY Brockport. Tony Micelotta and Aaron Capellupo picked up assists on the goals, which came off a rebound. The game was scoreless after the first period and 1-0 Brockport after the second. Jeff Burrell opened the scoring for Brockport early in the second period. Jon Padulo scored 52 seconds into the third to tie it for Irondequoit. Alan Hart regained Brockport's lead 28 seconds later before Joe Grana made it 2-2 three minutes after that. Michael Picard recorded 33 saves for the Blue Devils. Brendan Kanaley made 23 saves for the Eagles (9-6-3).

Joe Grana scored twice to lead Irondequoit. David York and Jeff Englert also scored for the Eagles. Aaron Frohm made 18 saves for the Panthers (9-4-1). Brendan Kanaley made 24 saves for Irondequoit (7-6-3), which handed Canandaigua its first loss Friday 2-1.

Junior Greg Ryan scored a goal and assisted on another as Greece Athena/Odyssey defeated Irondequoit 3-2 Saturday in a Section V League game at Lakeshore Hockey Arena. Senior captain Jon Hostetter scored the winner 1:26 into the second period on the power play for the Thunder. Ryan dug the puck out of the corner, skated to the front of the net and took a shot. Hostetter picked up the rebound and knocked it in. Ryan scored on a one-timer from freshman Riley Bourbonnais with 1:08 left in the second period as Greece took a 3-1 lead. Joe Grana scored midway through the first period to give Irondequoit a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Phil Lane scored less than three minutes later off a pass from Corey Karwowski to tie the score for the Thunder. Mitch Clark scored a power-play goal early in the third period for Irondequoit. Joe Ladd made 23 saves for the Thunder (11-3-0). Brendan Kanaley stopped 20 shots for the Eagles (6-5-3).

Corey Gurski scored the tying goal on a breakaway for Hilton at 10:47 of the third period. It was Gurski's third goal of the game. Gurski gave Hilton a 1-0 lead at 5:14 of the first period. Mac Romal tied the game for Irondequoit three minutes later. John Padulo gave Irondequoit a 2-1 lead at 8:53 of the second period. Gurski scored his second goal with one second remaining in the second period. Padulo put Irondequoit back in front at 6:51 of the third period before Gurski tied the game. Bryan Haude made 38 saves for Hilton (2-9-1).
