This image was created with my 'minimial' demonstration program.

Yet another raytraced sphere? Well, there are only 6 curves that are easy to raytrace ( the Quadric surfaces ) and the sphere is the most common in the real world, so that's our first choise. The Quadrics can be described algebraically with just the sum of a few squares.
