Christmas in October The Conservation Board’s 11th annual Halloween Hike was a huge success. This years theme, “Christmas in October” treated over 400 hikers to a look at environmental issues through the eyes of characters such as The Grinch, Frosty the Snowman, Christmas Elves, Christmas Teddy Bears, Rudolf and the Misfit Animals. Hikers were led on a hike through the woods on a trail lit with luminaries and carved pumpkins. After the walk, hikers were treated to hot cider and Christmas treats in the depot. The Halloween Hike is an annual event held the 3rd Saturday in October. A pumpkin carving contest is held the night before with the pumpkins being displayed along the trail on Saturday evening.
