Don't miss your chance to enter for the first annual IBS Awards

Judges from professional and academic radio will assess each entry and award 27 awards to IBS Member College Radio Stations

Award Information, Entry Guidelines, Judging Criteria, and Entry Forms

Entry Deadline:
Postmarked by

February 15, 2011

Awards Presentation:
Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the 70th International IBS Conference
New York, New York

Who May Enter the Competition:

Any student from an IBS member institution is eligible to enter the awards competition. Awards will be presented to radio station, not individual members; therefore students must enter the competition through their college, university or high school to be eligible.

General Rules

Each entry should be submitted on a separate cassette tape, MD or Audio CD and be clearly labeled. Only one entry per tape, MD or Audio CD. Entries will not be returned.

Entries must have aired on the IBS member station between January 1, 2009 and January 29, 2011. Programs aired after January 29, 2011 will be eligible for the next year’s competition.

No entries will be returned.

All entries must be post-marked no later than February 15, 2011

Each IBS member school is entitled to enter up to five entries for free. Additional entries cost $10 per entry.

By entering this contest, you give IBS permission to air your entry on the IBS Student Radio Network or on IBSradio.org.

You retain the full rights to your entries.

Programs may be entered in multiple categories (if applicable), but each entry must include its own tape, MD, or CD, and a separate entry form and entry fee (if applicable).

At the discretion of the judges, awards in all categories may not be given out due to either lack of number in entries or lack of quality entries.

Judges will score each category and the top five entries will be recognized at the annual IBS Conference in New York City. The winning entry will be revealed during the awards ceremony at the conference.

Any violation of these rules will result in the disqualification of the entry.

Judging Criteria

Judges from both academic and professional settings will listen to each entry and evaluate them based on the following criteria:

Audio Production: Does the submission meet or exceed the qualities needed to air on an FM broadcast station (i.e. levels mixed right, are effects used correctly, vocals and music use appropriately)?

Creativity: Is the submission original or an original spin on an idea/concept/program?

Script: Is the script concise, informative and entertaining?

Vocals: Does the pacing match the script? Are they using vocal inflection properly?

Timing: Does the entry stay within the time limits provided?

Editing: Are submissions left edited or unedited as noted above?

Award categories may have more than one grand prizewinner, depending on the quality and number of entries each category receives.

Other categories may have no winners awarded if an insufficient number of entries are received.

Any questions please contact Chris Thomas at cthomas@wltl.net for more information.
