Obituary as found in Ashland Press, Wednesday Oct 1, 1913:
(courtesy William Snyder, Reference Department, Ashland Public Library, Ohio)William Henry Beachner was born in Penfield, New York, July 10, 1853, and died at his home four miles south of town, September 13, 1913, aged 60 years, 2 months and 3 days.
He came to Ohio when nine years of age. He became a Christian at the age of nineteen and united with the Christian church at Ashland in 1888.
He was united in marriage to Ella C. Gantz on March 20, 1880, and leaves to mourn his departure, his devoted wife, two daughters, Ethel L., teacher in Ashland public schools and Violet M., wife of Chas. Mykrantz, and one son, Glenn. One daughter, died in infancy, and one granddaughter Dorothy Mykrantz. Two brothers, Jacob and George, of Rochester, New York; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Brasser, also of Rochester; Mrs. Julia Morr, of Plymouth, Ohio; and Mrs. Sarah Beelman, of Saginaw, Mich., many other relatives and a host of friends also mourn their loss.
He was a good, earnest Christian, devoted to his family, loved his church and God with his might and his neighbors as himself.
The funeral service was conducted at the residence, Tuesday, September 16, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. F. D. Draper officiating.
Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Barbara Brasser and daughter, Minnie, of Rochester, New York; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Clinesmith and Miss Clara Clinesmith, of Toledo; Mrs. Frank French, of Columbus, Ohio; Mr. John Clinesmith of Ganges, Ohio; Mr. J. Gantz, of Farrell, Pa., and Mr. William Gantz, of Creston, Ohio.
We wish through the columns of this paper, to express our sincere thanks to all those who so kindly assisted us in our bereavement, to the choir, the pastor, the kind neighbors and friends and those who sent the beautiful flowers.
Mrs. W. H. Beachner and Family.Note: The obituary states that he moved when he was nine. I believe that is a mistake since he and his siblings and parents are already in Ohio in 1860 when he was six years old. Also, the obituary states a son Glenn. However, census data does not show any sons named Glenn. They do show a servant named Glenn. Maybe Glenn was adopted or the obituary was not correct?
In both the 1900 and 1910 census Ella C. Beachner is listed as having 3 children with 2 still living.

August 16, 1850 - Jacob Büchner, age 42, arrives in New York on the ship Bark Orion from Bremen, Germany. He is listed as a carpenter with last residence in Oberfüllbach and born in Sachsen. He is with what looks to be a sibling Anna (age 28), and children Georg (18), Michel (13), Johann (9), Dorothea (6), Barbe (4), and Anna (9m). The ship left Bremen on 22 June 1850. The record was found on http://immigrantships.net. These records can be found in the National Archives on Microfilm publication 237/roll 91.
1853 Son William Henry's obituary states that he was born in Penfield, NY. So, the family most likely settled in Penfield, NY after arriving from Germany.
1855 Penfield, Monroe, NY Census: Jacob and wife Barbra both born in Germany, with children Barbra (age 8 born Ger.), Hannah (age 5 born Ger.), Charles (age 4 born Monroe Co, NY), and Wm (age 2 born Monroe Co). He is not listed as owning land so he may have been renting. All born in Germany were marked as aliens. All above age 4 were also listed as having been in Penfield for 4 years. So, it looks as if they did not spend too much time in New York City when they arrived to the U.S. in 1850. Families around the Beachners were Elezer Baker, Richard Wells, Charles Fellows, L. Allen, and Nathan Higbie. Most of these men are found on 1852 and 1858 maps of Penfield, NY around what is now Fellows Road, Penfield, NY.
1860 US Fed Census: living with second wife Barbara and children Hannah (probably Anna as listed on ship records), Charles, William, Franklin, Sarah & unnamed (Jacob - age 1/12) in Weller, Richland, Ohio. Listed as a Farmer.
The 1860 census listing above has his last name spelled as Bickler so either they changed their name after settling in or the census is mistaken which is all too common. Also, Jacob's and Barbara's ages vary quite significantly throughout the census records so they could have been just reluctant to give totally accurate information to the census takers. The unnamed child must be Jacob E. who was born just 8 days before the census record of 23 Jun 1860.
1870 US Fed Census: living with wife Barbara and children Sarah and Jacob in Blooming Grove, Ohio. Listed as Day Laborer

(source: Barb Heiden)
Jacob Beachner, aged 80 years, died yesterday at his home in Irondequoit. The funeral will take place from the house at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.Note: It looks as if Jacob came back to Irondequoit, NY to be with his siblings in his later years. I have learned that the Hooker Cemetery in Irondequoit, NY was the only public cemetery in Irondequoit up to 1895. Many of the tombstones have been ruined in this cemetery over the years. I'm wondering if he is buried in this cemetery. Monroe County and New York state do not have any records of his death.
Randy Beachner remembers being told that George and Jacob Beachner, Jr. were half brothers.
I am assuming that Michael Beachner was also a son of Jacob and ? Beachner. He (Buchner, Michel) was with the family group in the ship records. See the notes on father Jacob for ship information. Other information on Michael is vary sparse.
1855 Penfield, Monroe, NY Census: Beachner, Michael (age 16) boarding and working as a clerk in the Robert Staring store at the four corners of Penfield, NY
His family (parents and siblings) were down the road, now route 441, and renting a home somewhere around what is now Fellows Road, Penfield, NY. After 1855 I have not been able to locate this Michael Beachner anywhere in census records.
August 16, 1850 - See father Jacob E. Beachner notes for immigration info. She is listed as Anna, age 9m on immigration record (still to be confirmed).
1855 Penfield, Monroe County, New York Census: living with father Jacob and step-mother Barabara
1860 US Census: She is living with father Jacob and step-mother Barbara in Weller, Richland, Ohio.
All other info on Hannah is very sparse.
