William Edward / Wilhelm Hettler

DIED:
HETTLER - At his home, on Park Avenue, in Webster, NY, Monday morning, October 27, 1919, William HETTLER, aged 74 years.  He leaves surviving his wife, Lena; two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Struck, of Webster and Mrs. Florence Buehler, of New York City; one son, Edward, of Webster. Funeral from his late home, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.  Interment at Webster Union Cemetery.

Hettler, William, was born in Germany in 1845, and is the son of John D., who came to America in 1852 and settled in Webster, where he died in 1886.  Mr. Hettler is known as one of the leading farmers and fruit growers of this town, having been for the past twelve years on the farm where he now resides.  He has one son, Edward W., and two daughters, Hattie M. and Florence I.

HETTLER - At the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. Struck, of Phillips Road, Webster, Friday, September 30, 1921, Magdelena Hettler, aged 72 (?) years, widow of the late William Hettler.  She leaves two daughters, Mrs. A. Struck of Webster and Mrs. A.B. Buehler of New York City; one son, Edward, of Walworth, and two brothers, Edward and Henry, of Rochester.  Funeral from the home of her daughter in Webster, Monday afternoon, October 3rd at 2:30.  Interment in Webster Union Cemetery.

1920 US Federal Census: (Lena Hettler) age 72 in Webster, Monroe, NY

*Lena's husband, William, died in 1919. In 1920 Lena was still living in the house at 81 Prak Avenue in Webster, NY with her son, Edward W.  Lena died in 1921 at the home of her daughter on Phillips Rd. in Webster, NY.  A 1924 map of Webster, NY shows E. Jayne owning the home at 81 Park Ave.  The Hettler family must have sold the house at 81 Park  Avenue in Webster between 1920 and 1924.  

In a 1902 map of Webster, NY it shows McMath owning the property where 81 Park Avenue would be. William and Magdalena Hettler must have purchased the land and built the house around 1902.

Hettler, Sr. of 294 Orland Road.  He is survived by his wife, Sarah; a son, George E., Jr.; three daughters, Mrs. William (Clara) McGrath, Mrs. Eleanor Makley, Mrs. William (Lorraine) Gurgel; a brother, Earl; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Miller, Mrs. Helen Goldstein, both of Florida, Mrs. Ruth Nolan; fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home of Thomas F. Trott, 683 East Main Street.  Services Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock.  Burial in Webster Rural Cemetery.

Trott Funeral Home, 683 East Main Street. Services Saturday morning at 11 o'cloc.  Reverend Allan R. Gibson officiating.  Interment in Webster Rural Cemetery.


Lucille Alice Miller

MILLER - Lucille Alice Miller, infant, daughter of Michael and Florence Hettler Miller, died Monday morning, Dec 9, 1935, at the residence, 179 Lux Street.  Besides her parents she leaves three sisters, Mildred, Norma and Virginia.  Funeral Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the residence.  Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

1880 US Federal Census: (John D. Hetler) age 72 in Webster, Monroe, NY

From looking at census records, family notes and maps it looks as if John D. Hettler sold his farm between 1873 and 1880.

John D. Hettler's daughter, Catherine Hallauer, moved into the old Hettler Farm around 1880 with her husband, J.W. Hallauer and their children.
