The application for pension filled out by Martha Moon Campbell (Boley's widow) states that "I am the widow of Bowley Campbell who enlisted in Company C, 16th Regiment of ______Battallion of _______, Captain Croft, on the ______ day of _______ 1861, and he served in that command until the ______ day of April 1865. Event Note

There is a difference in the year given on the Confederate Pension Application, filled out by Boley's wife Martha Moon Campbell, and the date on the grave marker in Pelzer S.C.. On the Pension Application Martha says that her husband died in 1902 and the grave marker says 1901. The dates on the marker for birth and the location, as well as the general time frame of death, lead me to think that the marker is in deed Boley's and that Martha was just a little confused as to the exact year of death when she filled out the Pension Application. She was a very old woman at the time.
