INQUIRY UNLIKELY INTO AUTO DEATH OF G.C. HAYDEN

Travelers Rest Man Killed When He Is Pinned Beneath Wrecked Machine

51 ROAD FATALITIES

An inquest will hardly be held in the death of Gordon C. Hayden, 20, of Travelers Rest,
who was killed when he was pinned beneath his wrecked automobile off the Geer highway near
Renfrew early yesterday morning, Coroner George W. McCoy said last night.
Hayden had been dead several hours officers said when he was found by a bakery truck driver
shortly before 6 o’clock yesterday morning. The automobile, a light cabriolet, had presumably
left the road when it failed to make a curve and turned over pinning Hayden underneath.
This was the 51st automobile fatality in Greenville county this year, and brought the violent
death list to 127, only three short of the total for 1934, when an all time high record was
set in the county.
The coroner said he was informed that Hayden was riding alone when the accident happened and
that it was unlikely he would order an inquest.
