Auxiliary Mission Statement:

The Garden Valley Fire Protection District Auxiliary is a volunteer group with a mission to support and assist the Garden Valley Fire Protection District. We will assist fire department personnel on scene during prolonged incidents. Toward this goal the Auxiliary will respond to assist with food, water and other supplies during fires or other situations that require our fire personnel to be on scene for an extended period of time.

We will endeavor through fund raising efforts, educational programs and participation in community activities to foster a positive image of GVFPD and the families of our fire department personnel while building a strong foundation for the future.

Units:

• Administrative Support- to staff the front desk at designate days and times at the direction of the Fire Chief. Responsibilities shall be to answer phones and assist with simple office procedures. Volunteer members shall have basic computer skills and be able to spend 2-4 consecutive hours sitting at a desk.
• Food Support- to provide food and beverage to firefighters during prolonged responses. Volunteer members will need to be on call 24/7 to respond to request by Fire Chief or dispatch and to respond within 90 minutes of request.
• Fundraising- to raise funds to support functions of the Auxiliary and goals of the GVFPD. Volunteer members shalll help to coordinate fundraising events, secure donations and supplies, and pursue other sources of funding either through private donations, grants, etc. Also to support efforts of Burn Out Fund and coordinate Family Emergency Supply Boxes.
• Marketing- to meet all marketing needs of the Auxiliary as well as develop and maintain website for GVFPD. Volunteer member shall develop flyers and brochures as needed and coordinate media coverage of events
• Rehab- to provide rehabilitation support of on-duty crews during prolonged response at the request of the Fire Chief within 90 minutes of request. Volunteer members shall hold a current, valid and unrestricted health care license or certification (RN, LPN, PA, NP, EMT).
• Volunteer- to assist with recruitment efforts by Auxiliary Board.
