The Hummingbird VTOL aircraft

The Hummingbird

Are you tired of aircraft compromises? Do you have multiple locations where you can't afford a landing strip for fixed wing aircraft, yet are tired of paying expenses for rotary craft? Are you locations too far apart for rotary craft, yet fixed wing craft just aren't convenient? The end of compromise is here!

Bricking Vertol is proud to announce the availability of the Hummingbird for the civilian market! After years of excellent service in our armed forces, you too can now own a Hummingbird. Combining the hovering and landing ability with the high subsonic speed of a fixed wing aircraft, the Hummingbird can transport a pilot and three passengers in speed and style, with lower cost running expenses. Bricking Vertol brings years and years of VTOL experience to the marketplace, in the picture to the right you can see the Hummingbird in the foreground, and the prototype plane taxiing in the background.

Frontal Hummingbird From the front, the most daring aspect of the Hummingbird is immediately noticed, the dual fuselage. The Hummingbird was designed around one engine, to reduce costs. Previous multipassenger VTOL aircraft relied upon two engines, dramatically increasing costs. When Bricking decided to use one engine, a daring split cockpit was the logical choice for the fuselage.

The split cockpit allowed the single engine to be placed amidship, where the center of gravity for hovering coincided with the thrust of the rotated engine. The prototype needed a severe headdown position to allow hovering, a disconcerting behavior for all but the most daring test pilots.

The engine is a standard turbojet, with the exhaust air heated by an internal laser array, powered by a standard fusion pack. The unit is entirely field serviceable by grade 3 techs, so watch your maintenance costs plummet! Standard configuration is a pilot and 3 passengers, one behind the pilot, and two in the left cockpit. Switching to other configurations, such as a cargo carrier, medevac or counterinsurgency ship takes only minutes, multiplying the usefulness of this craft.
