DANCING BEAR FARM
"Home of Auntie Ann's Handmade Goat Milk and Rainwater Soap"

Welcome to our homestead in the bountiful Northwoods of Wisconsin. We spend our days raising cows, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, and even a few llamas. We grow organically, using a raised bed and deep mulch system that builds our soil while it feeds us. During the harvest we can be found canning and drying the fruits of our labor. In the fall we butcher and cure our meat. The smell of smoked hams and bacon fill the autumn air. We also make our own sausage. We keep bees and process the honey. We make our own maple syrup, cheese, soap, render lard, and churn our own butter. We shear our sheep, then card and spin the wool into yarn. Ann bakes bread on our wood stove and Roger fells trees and does every aspect of construction and repairs to the property. We have learned to live by the homesteading rule-MAKE DO OR DO WITHOUT.

We are homesteaders. The work we do is honest. It is often hard. The rewards are many. We invite you to experience some of the benefits of homesteading:

  • Save money by doing it yourself
  • Become self sufficient
  • Simplifiy your life
  • Get a good night's sleep

We offer a variety of homesteading workshops along with our CSA subscription garden. Garden space will be offered free to community for the 2005 growing season. We invite you the experience the joy of homesteading.
