Emphasis will be given to those groups in close proximity to the student.
Bi 506 Word Studies

Word Studies examines the leading words of Scripture as to their historical
significance, including their etymology, developed usage, synonyms, inflections,
syntax, and contextual considerations.
Ce 201 Philosophy of Christian Education
3 credits
A comparative study and Scriptural evaluation of the major historical
educational philosophies and their influences upon current American educational
theory and practice. The student will develop and record a Biblically
based philosophy of education.
Ce 202 Human Behavior
3 credits
An introductory study of regularities and irregularities of human behavior
from the biblical perspective.
Ce 204 Foundational Methods of Teaching
3 credits
A course designed to equip the student with a fundamental understanding
of various methods of teaching, including many found in the New Testament.
Students will apply the methods they study in field based experience.
Ce 301 Teaching and Learning
3 credits
A foundational course designed to give the student understanding in
such areas as teaching methods, the developmental process, the learning
process, and dealing with individual differences in students.
Ce 302 Child Growth and Development
3 credits
An introduction to the physical, personal, social, emotional, spiritual,
and intellectual growth of a child. Includes examination of concepts
of teaching and learning at various age level.
Ce 303 Individualized Learning and Practicum
3 credits
This course includes completing School of Tomorrow Training PACEs,
attending the fall Christian educator's convention, and writing three five-hundred
word papers on convention topics. The student will also serve three
hours each week in the A.C.E. school, which will include working as a monitor,
teaching physical education, helping with devotional meetings, and assisting
with office procedures.
Ce 304 Teaching Elementary Math
2 credits
The student acquires a working knowledge of the philosophy, scope and
sequence, and methodology of the Accelerated Christian Education math PACEs.
Development of a visual aid library, techniques of teaching math concepts,
and use of computer software are also covered.
Ce 305 Teaching Bible
2 credits
A study of methods, materials and techniques useful for teaching Bible
in the classroom and during opening exercises, devotional periods, and
chapel services. (Also credited as Bi 305)
Ce 306 Counseling from the Bible
3 credits
An introduction to the principles and procedures of counseling from
the Bible. (Also credited as Pt 304)
Ce 308 Teaching High School Math
2 credits
This course stresses skills of presentation and explanation, especially
in connection with the difficult concepts of algebra and geometry.
The student will also gain a working knowledge of the philosophy, scope
and sequence, and methodology of the Accelerated Christian Education math
Curriculum.
Ce 401 Teaching Elementary English 2 credits
The student acquires a working knowledge of the philosophy, socpe and
sequence, and metholdology of the Accelerated Christian Education English
and literature PACEs. Development of a visual aid library, methods
of instructing slow learners, techniques of teaching concepts, use of computer
software, and creative writing are also covered.
Ce 402 Supervised Teaching 3 credits
Prerequisites: Ce 201, 301, 303, senior, and approval of the
academic dean.
Ce 403 Teaching Elementary Social Studies and Science
2 credits
The student acquires a working knowledge of the philosophy, scope and
sequence, and methodology of the Accelerated Christian Education social
studies and science PACEs. Development of a visual aid library, methods
for reading comprehension, review techniques, and home projects are covered.
Ce 404 Teaching Reading and Spelling 2 credits
A study of (1) the development of language i children, (2) the nature
of listening, speaking and writing skills, and (3) the process in comprehension
and vocabulary development from reading readiness to study skills.
Students will gain a working knowledge of the phonic/linguistic approach
of the A.C.E. Learning to Read curriculum.
Ce 405 Introduction to Music Education 3

An introduction to the history, methods, and biblical rationale of
music education.
Ce 406 Teaching Physical Education 2 credits
A study of the methods, materials, and a biblical rationale of physical
education.
Ce 407 Principles of Leadership 3 credits
An introduction from the biblical perspective to the principles of
leadership, including goal setting, self-discipline, organization, and
motivation.
Ce 409 Teaching High School English
2 credits
This course stresses skills of presentation and explanation, especially

Ce 411 Teaching High School Social Studies and

This course emphasizes the teaching of history, government, economics,
biology, and physical science from a biblical and creational perspective.
The place and methods of lab instruction in the Christian school will be
considered, and the student will gain a working knowledge of the
philosophy, scope and sequence, and methodology of the
Accelerated Christian Education social studies and science curriculum.

A chronological survey of education from biblical times to the present.
Ce 413 Motivation

A course designed to acquaint the student with the biblical perspective
on motivation. Principles of instruction are covered along with methods
for stimulating spiritual and academic growth.
Ce 414 Teaching Elementary Music

A study of methods, materials, and curriculum for elementary classroom
music.
Ce 415 Bulletin Board and Wall Techniques
2 credits
A practical course in enhancing classroom environment through bulletin
board and wall decoration.
Ce 417 Classroom Management and Control

A course in Biblically sound techniques of establishing and maintaining
an orderly, well disciplined learning environment.
Ce 419 Advanced Counseling
3 credits
Designed for the serious student and for those who need additional
expertise in the areas of suicide, abortion, and other life dominating
issues. Prerequisite: Ce 306 or permission of the instructor.
Ce 499 Personal Philosophy of Christian Education
1-2 credits
Each Christian Education graduate must submit a comprehensive statement
to the faculty prior to graduation.
Ce 500 Advanced Philosophy of Education 3 credits
A graduate level study of the requisites of Biblical grounded education,
with in depth study of several key concepts.
Ce 501 Foundations of Education 3 credits
This course is designed to enable the Christian educator to identify
and utilize the Christian mandated fundamentals of education.
Ce 504 Classroom Management 3 credits
An advanced course in Biblically sound discipline, with an emphasis
on managing the classroom environment. Students will be exposed to a variety
of management styles.
Ce 505 Tests and Measurements 3 credits
Gives the student a overview of the necessity, accuracy, and falacies
of testing. Includes both group and individual testing rationales.
Ce 506 Instructional Strategies 3 credits
Provides assistance to the teacher in planning long rance goals, making
assessments, chosing appropriate curriculum for each level, and meeting
the professional needs inside and outside of the classroom.
Ce 508 Advanced Principles of Leadership 3 credits
This course is designed to give the student an understanding of leadership
qualities, Biblical authority, and a conception of the Biblical boundaries
of leadership. Covers the practical problems encountered by Christian school
faculty. Also credited as Pt 520.
Ce 509 Exceptional Children 3 credits
Introduction to a variety of special techniques required to meet the
cognitive needs of learning disabled children. Emphasis is placed on teaching
creatively according to the specific needs of the student.
Ce 510 Microcomputers in Education 3 credits
A hands-on approach to the history, hardware, and hazards of using
computers in education. Special emphasis will be given to Christian uses
of the internet.

A study of the fundamentals of English composition: grammar, parts
of speech, punctuation, mechanics, spelling, and the construction of sentences,
paragraphs, and compositions.

A study of the techniques of effective writing such as introductions,

A course covering such areas as sets, logic, functions, and mathematical
system.
Ma 102 Mathematics II (Precalculus)

Designed to prepare the student for college calculus, this course includes
the functions, inverse functions, combination functions, coordinates, and
the function laws of trigonometry.
Mi 301 Introduction to Missions
2 credits
An introduction to the history, principles, practices, and call of
missionary service.
Mi 507 Missions Practicum
1 credit
A first-hand experience with missions work on the field under the auspices
of a designated missionary.
Mi 508 Church Planting 3 credits
Church planting sets before the student the essentials which are necessary
in effectively pioneering a new church from its inception to its firm establishment
in the community. Areas of study include the plan and purpose of
establishment, the place of establishment, the plant to be established,
and the problems involved in establishment.
Mu 101 Voice Class

An introductory study and application of the principles of correct
tone production, interpretation, and communication in vocal music performance.

The study of the technique of playing piano in weekly half-hour private

Mu 201 Foundations of Church Music
3 credits
This course is designed to familiarize future pastors and teachers
with the basic elements and principles of music theory, music history,
hymnology, and philosophy of church music.
Mu 202 Music Appreciation
2 credits
A survey and listening study of the history, styles, and forms of great
music.
Mu 203 Hymnology 3 credits
A study of the great hymn writers and their focus on the Lord of glory.
The student will be required to compose several hymns designed to be sung
in the local church.
Mu 302 Music in the Christian Life
3 credits
An in depth study designed to help pastors, teachers, and parents develop
a philosophy of music by which to establish a biblical foundation and direction
for music in their churches, schools, and homes. A much needed
course in this day of the musical subversion of churches and families.
Mu 309 The Christian and the Arts
3 credits
A study of the arts from a Christian point of view, including such
topics as godly creativity, views of aesthetics, and the true nature of
art. This course includes a discussion of culture's effect on perception
and valuing of art forms, and the detrimental effects of our mass culture
on the arts.
Mu 401 Masterpieces of Music I
2 credits
A listening course designed to familiarize students with some of the
great musical works from the Renaissance to the present day. The
lives and philosophies of the composers will be discussed, and their works
studied from the perspective of the composers' life messages. One
goal of the course is to provide a basis from which to choose art music
that can edify the Christian life.
Mu 402 Masterpieces of Music II
2 credits
An extension of Mu 401 designed to familiarize the student with some
of the great musical works from the time of the Renaissance to the present
day. One goal of the course is to provide a basis from which to choose
art music that can edify the Christian life.
Pt 101 Personal Evangelism
2 credits
A "how to" training course in the ministry of leading people to the
Savior.
Pt 201 Pastoral Theology
3 credits
A course dealing with the nature of the pastoring ministry, the qualifications
of the pastor, and the nuts and bolts demands of the ministry including
study, scheduling, special meetings, weddings, funerals, calling, music,
etc.
Pt 301 Homiletics I
2 credits
The study and practical application of the principle's in sermon preparation
and delivery.
Pt 302 Homiletics II

A continuation of Pt 301.
Pt 304 Counseling from the Bible
3 credits
An introduction to the principles and procedures of counseling from
the Bible. (Also credited as Ce 306)
Pt 401 Church Administration
2 credits
Offers the tools needed to tackle the many administrative responsibilities
that often face a pastor.
Pt 402 Pastoral Internship
3 credits
Practical training in a local church under the supervision of the academic
dean and the local church pastor. Regular reports submitted by the
student and a final evaluation by the supervising pastor are required.
Pt 501 Advanced Counseling
3 credits
Designed for the man in the ministry and for those who sense a calling
into a counseling ministry. An in-depth analysis of several
crucial areas will be completed. Also designed to impart practical
counseling skills to the student and build confidence through role play
experiences. Prerequisite: Pt 304 or permission of the
instructor.
Pt 503 Church and Sunday School Administration
3 credits
A course designed to prepare the pastor to effectively administrate
the various functions and facets involved in the management of a local
church ministry. Also credited as Bi 503.
Pt 509 Principles of Physical Management
3 credits
This course qualifies the pastor to handle such business procedures
as accounting, financial planning, ordering, contracts, insurance, and
incorporation procedures.
Pt 511 Ministry of Chaplaincy 3 credits
A course designed to provide persons interested in serving as chaplains
the basics of chaplaincy training and for those who desire greater usefulness.
The motto of chaplaincy, "You can demand nothing, but earn everything,"
will be explained through actual experience. Prerequisite:
Pt 304 and/or permission of the instructor.
Pt 512 Counseling Resources and Responsibilities
3 credits
This course includes the vital areas of crisis counseling, premarital
counseling, and guidance techniques. Topics are presented with stress
upon a realistic and practical solution. As in all counseling courses,
the sense of the all sufficiency of Christ is the preeminent focus.
Prerequisite: Pt 501.
Pt 514 Biblical Counseling Practicum 3 credits
This course is designed to apply to the student's choice of vocation
and involves a practical application of the counselor's gifts. Student
work is supervised by an experienced Christian counselor.
Pt 520 Advanced Principles of Leadership 3 credits
This course is designed to give the student an understanding of leadership
qualities, Biblical authority, and a conception of the Biblical boundaries
of leadership. Covers the practical problems encountered by Christian school
faculty. Also credited as Ce 508.
Pe 101 Physical Fitness I
1 credit
A personalized exercise program developed by the student and staff
advisor to establish habits that will help keep the student physically
fit for the Lord's service. The student will log a minimum of two
hours weekly in the program, and the staff advisor will monitor progress.

An extension of Pe 101.

The study of the human body during physical exertion.

A scientific and scriptural study of such areas as Creation, the Flood,

An introduction to the areas of science from a biblical perspective.

An inquiry into the nature of life with special emphasis on the practical.
Sp 101 Fundamentals of Speech I

The study and practice in group presentation of the principles of public
speaking: organization, preparation, diction, projection, etc.

Th 101 Doctrines I

A study of bibliology (the doctrine of the Bible--its revelation, inspiration,
etc.), and theology (the doctrine of God--His personality, attributes,

A study of angelology (the doctrine of angels), anthropology (the doctrine
of man (the doctrine of man), and hamartology (the doctrine of sin).

Th 201 Doctrines III

A study of Christology, pneumatology (the doctrine of the Holy Spirit),
soteriology (the doctrine of salvation) and ecclesiology (the doctrine

Th 202 Doctrines IV

A study of eschatology (the doctrine of end times) from the premillenial
and pretribulational point of view. No prerequisite.
Th 203 Hermeneutics

A study of the history and rules for the interpretation of the Bible,
with and emphasis on the Bible as its own interpreter.
Th 301 Biblical Theology

A study of the progress of God's revelation of Himself to His people.
Th 591 Research Techniques
3 credits
A mastery of the accepted methods of bibliographies, logical sequences,
and theological research. Includes the necessary mechanics of thesis
preparation.
