Frontier Communications Blocking Phone Service
I recently purchase a MagicJack Phone box from a local Radio Shack store and installed it onto my home computer and it actually works as good if not better than my regular phone service provided by Frontier Communications. After giving MagicJack a thorough workout for several weeks, I contacted Frontier and asked them to discontinue my phone service and only wanted to pay for their DSL Internet service which they agreed to do and with only an insignificant decrease in my monthly phone bill might I add. During my conversation with Frontier, they asked me how they could contact me if they needed to do so and I gladly gave them my new MagicJack phone number. Well, that turned out to be a big mistake!!! In less than a weeks time, some telephone numbers that I had contacted before using MagicJack now stopped working altogether and all I get is a "beep beep beep". Frontier's computer now flags my MagicJack number as soon as it arrives at their system and stops it dead in its tracks! If I call a phone number that is not a Frontier provided service number, my MagicJack service goes right on through with no problems. So, if you plan on switching over to MagicJack or any other type of phone service and Frontier Communications is your Phone/Internet provider, make darn sure you DO NOT give them any phone number(s) you use because they will block your number(s) from reaching another number that Frontier provides service to. It could be too that other Phone/ISP providers are adopting this attitude so wether your provider is Frontier or whomever, don't pass along to them your new number(s)!!
Another issue with Frontier. After switching over to Internet service only, and dropping Phone service with Frontier, I swiched my computers over to a wireless internet connection. A problem appeared with my Sieman's modem so out came a Frontier service technicain with the latest and greatest Sieman's modem. While switching out my old modem, this service tech gave me a hot tip on some free wireless software called "Network Stumbler" that he recommended I try out, and after he left, I proceeded to go online and download this free software and install in onto my home system. Turns out this software was loaded to the hilt with malware and it took me several weeks to get everything back in order and that was after paying Microsoft $$$ to help me fix all the problems! So, if your Frontier Service Tech happens to give you a hot tip on some great online software, tell him thanks but no thanks!
If this page ever dissapears, it's because I've swiched over to another ISP (almost impossible to do because Frontier has a monopoly out here) or, Frontier decided to stop blocking my MagicJack phone number and reimbursed me for the damage done by this Frontier service technician.
You have been warned!!
