1. William Wallace CHAPEL was born on 1 Sep 1839 in Pitcher, Chenango Co., NY.
- Educated at the Academy of Cincinnatus, New York, in 1859 he attended a term of the law school of Albany, New York.
- He enlisted as Private in Co. C 157th NY Vol Inf on 3 Sep 1862 in Pitcher, Chenango Co., NY and was promoted to Fifth Sergeant on 1 Mar 1864 in Jacksonville, FL. He was discharged from the U.S. Army on 10 Jul 1865 in Pitcher, Chenango Co., NY.
- On 13 Dec 1865 he married Alice G. Pritchard of Cincinnatus, NY
- He farmed near Pitcher until November 1867 when he moved to Hamilton, Caldwell County, Missouri where he embarked in the real estate business and the practice of law.
- In February, 1868 he was admitted to the bar in Caldwell County.

- He was Commissioned Justice of the Peace, Appleton Township on 5 Feb 1914 in Osceola, St. Clair Co., MO.
- He died on Saturday, 27 May 1922 in Appleton City, St. Clair Co., MO.
