Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm
Roll call: Councilman Pfaff, Councilman Schramm, Councilman Powell, Councilman Keagy, Supervisor Levey

Approval of the minutes: A motion by Councilman Powell to accept the meeting minutes from Dec. 8 and Dec. 29, 2011 and seconded by Councilman Pfaff

Supervisor Levey ask that anyone wishing to speak at any town meeting that the person please stand and state their name before speaking so the Town Clerk can identify the person when doing the meeting minutes and so others at the meeting knows who is speaking

Privilege of the floor: (limit 5 minutes) Reports of committees: Marge Cansdale, she had some concerns about the Senior Exempt and Disability cost for co-pays for medical issues. She would like people in the Livingston County to pull together and try to help with this issues for it affects a lot of people in the county.
Bob Booher, he would like to apologize for missing the ZBA meeting that was held on Jan. 11, 12 for he had his dates wrong for the meeting. He asked if the town would advertising for the ZBA meetings. There has been advertising in the Genesee Express and on the monthly calendar that is posted in the entry way of the town hall, towns website and posted on the enclosed advertising case outside the town hall.
Highway: The town highway men had a few snow days. The chain went bad on the oldest truck and the men were able to fix it the same day. The men filled some of the larger pot holes on the dirt roads and did some ditch cleaning, changing a driveway pipe on Coffee Hill Rd. David received some papers from FEMA, all signed and returned and payment should follow.
There were two bids for the tractor mower. One was from Lakeland John Deere with a brand new tractor for the cost of $67,988.45 with the trade in cost of the towns tractor of $8,500.00.
Z and M had a 2006 tractor (which is currently at the town barns) with the cost of $41,000.00 with trade in cost of the towns tractor of $7,000.00. The town tractor mower is a 1988

A motion by Councilman Powell to refuse both bids and re-bid the tractor mower for a used tractor and seconded by Councilman Pfaff

Code Enforcement: A motion by Councilman Powell to accept the Code Enforcers report and seconded by Councilman Schramm

Planning Board: A motion by Councilman Powell for Eugene Teed and Andy Keiffer to get their training hours by June 1, 2012 to continue to be a Planning Board member and seconded by Councilman Schramm

A motion by Councilman Keagy to have the Town Clerk make copies or email the 2012 Land Develop Code to any residents who would like a copy for review, each paper copy will cost $5.00, there will be no charge for email and seconded by Councilman Powell

ZBA: Ken Long was addressed about his training for ZBA and has till Sept. 2012 to get the training hours to continue to be a ZBA member
ZBA will have monthly meetings for 2012 date and time are such, second Wednesday starting at 7:00 pm held at the town hall
Youth: Pat Levey (Youth Director) is looking for some youth from West Sparta to represent the town for the Youth Recognition Award for 2012. The youth has to be the age of 14 by February 17, 2012
Solid Waste: A motion by Councilman Schramm to accept the Solid Waste report and seconded by Councilman Pfaff

Fred Bundschuh is interesting in being a volunteer for the recycling and waste on Saturday mornings for 2012

A motion by Councilman Powell to have Councilman Powell to meet with the West Sparta Fire Dept. on January 24, 2012 at the West Sparta Fire Dept. at 7:00 pm for the annual meeting and seconded by Councilman Pfaff

A motion by Councilman Keagy to table the Ambulance Contact till the next board meeting Feb. 9, 12 to have the correct wording in place which is, for West Sparta to have 90 days to opt out of Ambulance Contract and seconded by Councilman Powell
