CAMP SNOOPY - MALL OF AMERICA UNVEILS NEW LOGO
Camp Snoopy - Mall of America has a new logo! It's called the "coaster logo" and will be phased in over the next year. It will replace the old logo (the "canoe logo") that is used at all of the other Camp Snoopy parks across the United States. The new logo gives the Camp Snoopy - Mall of America "brand" a new look and features Snoopy loosing his Camp Ranger hat as he soars over the top of a roller coaster in his famous dog dish. Eventually the old canoe logo will become obsolete, although the Camp Snoopy - Mall of America Merchandise Department will continue to use it to some degree.

CAMP SNOOPY - MALL OF AMERICA HOSTS SNOOPY FAN WEDDING Snoopy was a special guest at a wedding this past July. A young couple from Japan flew all the way to Minnesota to have Snoopy attend their wedding. The ceremony took place around the center fountain inside Camp Snoopy - Mall of America and was coordinated by the Chapel of Love at Mall of America. The Bride, who is a huge fan of Snoopy, was greeted by our beloved beagle before her vows. Snoopy also attended the reception which was held in the Stampede Steakhouse. Old Time Photos captured the moment and was sure to get some good photos of the couple with their new friend Snoopy. The couple honeymooned in Minnesota for a few days and then flew to Tampa taking in baseball games starring Japan native Hideo Nomo.

JEAN SCHULZ VISIT TO CAMP SNOOPY - MALL OF AMERICA A SUCCESS!
IT'S A BRAND NEW STORE, CHARLIE BROWN! By Eric A. Wildgrube On May 27th, 2000, the cartoonists of the world honored the creator of the Peanuts comic strip, Charles Schulz, by dedicating their own daily comic strip in tribute to Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang. How appropriate that, on the same day, Camp Snoopy at Mall of America honored Charles Schulz by opening one of the finest and largest Peanuts themed stores in the country. After a month of hard work by Maintenance and Merchandise employees, Snoopy's Boutique was transformed into The Snoopy Shop. The first step in this transformation was knocking out several walls to make the store bigger. The Snoopy Shop now provides nearly 4,500 square feet to display the largest collection of Peanuts merchandise. Guests will see some of the changes just by walking in front of the store. A larger than life sign features Snoopy as the Beagle Scout Master, Woodstock and his three friends Bill, Conrad, and Oliver holding up a huge red, yellow, and blue banner featuring the store's name. When guests walk into The Snoopy Shop they will be impressed by the new, bright interior and the variety of Snoopy products. The brand new wood vinyl flooring is beautiful, durable and replaces the old cobblestone and carpeting. The ceiling is new too. Painted in circles of midnight blue, yellow and orange, these colors literally draw you into the store. Many new tables, gondolas and glass cases hold every kind of Peanuts product imaginable. From Camp Snoopy logo T-shirts, and entire wall of Snoopy plush, pewter and silver collectibles, house wares and animation art, The Snoopy Shop has instantly become the premier Peanuts themed store in the nation. As guests walk around the store picking out their favorite Snoopy souvenir, they will see a life sized dog house featuring a television set playing one of the 50 Peanuts videos. The audio from the video will play throughout the store so guests can hear their favorite Peanuts characters as they shop. When they are ready to check out they will step up to the brand new cash wraps that feature excellent carvings of the most famous beagle ever...Snoopy! The entire Merchandise staff would like to thank everyone for all their help and invite you to stop by soon and visit the flagship store of Camp Snoopy at Mall of America. If you like Snoopy, you will love The Snoopy Shop.
PEANUTS FANS SNAP UP MEMORABILIA FOLLOWING SCHULZ' DEATH By Jessie Seyfer/Associated Press SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Whether it is a scratched-up Snoopy lunchbox from the 1970's or a "Great Pumpkin" video, fans of Charlie Brown and "the Peanuts" gang have been clamoring for reminders of their comic strip friends since Charles Schulz' death. The Internet auction site eBay had more than 3,000 pieces of "Peanuts" memorabilia Wednesday, from dog dishes to key chains. Among them, 86 old "Peanuts" lunchboxes were up for bid. "People have been recognizing what "Peanuts" means to them and realizing the place it has in their life. They're wanting to get that one thing that symbolizes it for them," said Nat Gertler of Pasadena, who runs an Internet site that sells "Peanuts books, videos and music. At Amazon.com, a book commemorating this year's 50th anniversary of the strip was the No. 1 seller Tuesday, and "Peanuts" related music was in the top 100, spokeswoman Sharon Greenspan said. "This has happened before when someone really loved passes away," she said. "People want something to hold onto. It's a way to show their interest and mourn." Steve Woolf put an autographed picture of the "Peanuts" gang on eBay as soon as he heard about Schulz death over the weekend. The bidding closed at $685. "People will pay crazy amounts for these items the minute they hear about the celebrity's death Woolf said. Stores at Camp Snoopy, the amusement park in the Mall of America at Bloomington, Minnesota couldn't restock shelves fast enough with animation drawings and commemorative coins. "We all just kind of talked about him and the strip and how it made us feel. It's just brought a lot of people's childhood memories to the forefront," said Eric Wildgrube, a manager at Snoopy's Boutique. Joyce Boyles of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, said the "Peanuts" gang had been part of her life since Schulz began drawing them. She was at the Mall of America Wednesday searching for a Linus doll fro her toddler grandson. "He drags his blanket just like Linus," she said, "And of course, Charles Schulz being from Minnesota, well, you stick with your hometown boy." Copyright 2000 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
