Day Hikes:In order of difficulty; all can
be done in a few hours by someone in reasonable shape
White Face Landing: (4 mi RT) – easy level walk thru woods to
Lake Placid
Owens/Copperas Ponds: a loop
hike if you use 2 mi. of Rte 86; better to start at the end closest to Lake
Placid and do a return hike: other end is VERY steep
Baxter Mtn.:
(? Mi) – some climbing but doable – great views
Owl’s
Head: (? Mi) – a bit more climbing but great views
Keene Town Hile: (?) –
very easy loop hike with some views; park at Marcy field parking lot and start
at signs toward Blueberry and Porter Mountains (These are LONG HARD hikes); then
follow sign for town hike.
Cascade: (5 mi RT) – lots of climbing but superb
views – most accessable of the 4000’peaks
