Here are a couple of the orphaned critters currently being taken care of by W&F. One of the things that has to be taken care of constantly is feeding the little ones. They need to be fed often. This little raccoon adapts easily to being bottle fed.

These 5 baby Kestrels are all from the same nest. They kept a close eye on me while I took their picture.

This little fawn has a broken leg but it's doing nicely and will probably be released as soon as the cast comes off.

Dr Deb was looking for a new home for a baby loon and knew that there was a pair with a single chick on my lake. She delivered it to me on her way to an emergency.

Strangely enough, a pair of loons with only one chick will almost always accept another of about the same size and raise it as their own. We took the orphan on our pontoon and got as close to the prospective parents as possible before I launched the orphan.

The little one made a splash when it hit the water and it was touch and go for awhile but eventually each of the adult loons swam away with a little one in tow.

Here are a couple more orphaned critters. This is a baby Merlin (notice the fuzz on its head), a medium sized hawk. It's doing well and will be released when it's ready to be on its own.

Finally, here's a very young Gray Fox. We've been seeing more of them in the area recently.
