No sunrise but a nice day.  We had breakfast and headed for the beach.  We didn't get this guys name but his little dog is Angel and she's 9 years old.  She got tired of walking and convinced him to carry her the rest of the way.

Lots of folks enjoying the day.  This little girl was keeping the bee company but had her squirt gun ready in case it was needed.

I don't know what the conversation was about but I thought I'd better stay out of it.  By the time I reached them they were smiling and wanted me to take a picture of them.  I did, but I like this one better, we'll see how it goes after they see it.

There was a big gathering of young people building sand sculptures going on this morning.  It was sponsored by an organization called TRIO which runs programs to help needy kids get more education after high school.

Some groups had their own colored t-shirts.

We finished our walk, caught a bus back to the condo, had lunch and then returned to the area where the sand sculptures were located.  By then the sun was shining but there was still some fog hanging on.

Some of the sculptures were very well done.

Some weren't done so well but were really fun!  Have you ever seen an octopus with hair?

I told these 2 guys that the kid must have been really naughty and they said that was for sure.

The kid got a chuckle out of our conversation then he wiggled around, grinned at me, and told me he could get out anytime he wanted.

When we left the beach we decided to drive to the convention center and pay our dollar to go in to the Market Days event.  It was just like the one we went to in Port Isabel a couple of days ago except there was a lot more junk, I mean treasures, to check out.  When we finished wandering through we headed out on the boardwalk to see what kind of wildlife was around.  Some of the usual birds were there, this Tri-color Heron sat on the railing until we got close.

The Roseate Spoonbills were back in their usual place doing their usual thing.

The young alligator was back in the same pond that we had seen it in before.  This time I got a shot of it from the north boardwalk as it yawned.

Afterward it settled back in for some more sunbathing.

We see lots of these Killdeer birds at home but this is the first one I've seen here.

I don't know if these critters qualify as birds but they seemed happy standing in the water trying to catch a fish... just like the herons (hair-ons?)!

As we left the boardwalk on the way to the car a Northern Mockingbird flew in and landed in a tree beside us.

Taking a short cut back to the car we scared up a young Ibis.

And now....  for the first time for awhile...... today's sunset!
