All -

My husband and I were scheduled to leave for Bulgaria this Monday to bring home our son, Nickolas, who is currently in an orphanage in Buzovgrad.  Our adoption agency director called us early this morning and said that police had taken all adoption records including those from the orphanage and that all adoptions were stopped until further notice.  Now, I am not sure if this is just at the orphanage in Buzovgrad or in all of Bulgaria.  Our adoption agency director left for a seminar in Washington, D.C.  and I was so upset that I failed to ask her this.  She did say that this included any parents scheduled to pick up their children.  Has anyone else heard anything about
adoptions being stopped or have any other information that would be helpful?

Thanks,
Teri

Sue -

She told us to cancel . . . . I think you should contact her.  She found out that I posted to the list and called and told me not to anymore.

Please let me know what she tells you.

Thanks,
Teri

All -

First, I want to apologize if my first message has caused terrible anxiety among you.  In my state of frustration and sadness I put this out to the list
to see if I could find out any other information.

My best advice to all of you is to contact the adoption agency you are working with to see if this affects you. I sincerely hope it does not.

My best to all of you and thanks to all those who sent messages of support,
Teri

Rob -

As a matter of fact, it was me who posted to the list.  I was trying to find out more information.  I am really upset as I do not believe it impacts all
orphanages.  I have been in contact with a [redacted] who is scheduled to leave Thursday for Bulgaria to pick up her daughter.  She is NOT with Building Blocks and when she contacted her agency they said they had not heard anything about this and she is still scheduled to leave.

I also have information that the Ministry of Health went to the orphanage in Buzovgrad and seized all adoption documents, sent the director home and
sealed her office.  I'm not at liberty to say who told me this, but she has first hand information.

At this point, I don't know what to believe.  Please keep me informed and I will do the same.

Thanks again,
Teri

Hi, Sue and Rob -

I saw your post on the list and was wondering if you will still be traveling tomorrow?

Has Denise advised you on what you should do?  We have heard nothing else from her.

We have an eight year old daughter who also has been waiting for her brother for over a year now.  She went with us on our first visit and just loved
Nickolas and is very anxious for him to come home.

I guess I just expected more information today . . .

Thanks,
Teri

Sue -

Denise told us that Valeri is suppose to get our docs back this morning.  If he does then I guess he will schedule another embassy appointment. We are
not going to reschedule our flight arrangements until then.

We booked our flights through Fellowship Travel and they only charged us $50 when we cancelled, which I thought was pretty good.

Hang in there, we'll get our kids soon!
Teri

Sue

We were asked to cancel.  I just wondered because in my last email to you I asked what Denise had advised you to do.  Maybe I missed your answer.

I would be very interested if you have any information.

Thanks,
Teri

Sue -

I think that if we contact the embassy asking for their assistance in releasing our documents, that they may assist in getting them back sooner
from the police.  We received the same info about the police saying they wouldn't release them for another 20 days.  Mark (my husband) and I emailed them on Friday asking for their assistance and help in getting the documents released.  Don't know if it will work, but it's worth a try.  We don't know
why they won't release them since our orphanage (Buzovgrad) has already been cleared in the investigation.

If I hear anymore I'll let you know.

Take care,
Teri
