The straight poop/ August 27, 2003
Things have changed 'round here. Last night, we got 2+ inches of rain, and the town is a mess. That's following a full month of high humidity and several pretty good showers. The entire reigon has had its share.
As a result, the desert is actually becoming slightly, well, green, IYKWIM. All roads and trails will be quite solid (apart from the washouts), once they have dried out. Looks like a prime fall riding season shaping up, complete with a 'second spring'. Woohoo!
You can't see it, but there's a vertical cliff right next to these guys.

It's summer again, fancy that. The drought is still with us, and the Monsoon is here as well, making things miserable but producing little rain.
The site needs some work, but Ghu only knows when I'll get to it. My web career is a monster that demands ever more time from me. Oh well...
Yours truly, working the Castlerock trail.
Ol' Phil fell off his bike and broke his hip, but they couldn't keep him in the hospital for long. A few quick pins, a few weeks, and he'll be back in the saddle again. A little more cautious tho...

Today, 25 million people realized that they are free. So many did not survive to see this day, American soldiers among them.
We and the Iraqi people celebrate now. But never forget that Freedom is never free. Rest In Peace

It's raining hard outside. (!) For now at least, the drought is in suspension. I intend to go totally nuts. Waaaa Hoooooooo!!!
The second annual Fowler Frolic is coming soon! Over four miles of new singletrack, plus lots of wonderfully bad old ranch/mining roads, set amidst rugged backcountry hills and canyons. With this rain it should be awesome! Please say you'll come.
Just another desert UFO.

It is now Prime Time for biking. Run (do not walk) to your nearest bicycle! Mucho rain has come down, and all rides are top quality.
Went for a trail ride yesterday with the KMBC (Kingman Mountain Bike Club). 6 miles on singletrack, plus a little impromptu trail extension. Cows are very messy trailbuilders.
This wincher was used to lift rock
up small vertical shafts.

A major late-summer monsoon drenching has settled the dust at last, and you can smell the cool weather approaching. The trail conditions should now be excellent!
The drought hasn't really broken, but it's a start.

The hot weather has arrived, and the drought goes on. The last substantial rain was seven months ago, and that combined with the three year dry spell is resulting in a major die-back of the high-desert flora and associated animals. However, because of this the fire danger is not great except in high, wooded areas, where it is very high.
Riding on heavily traveled routes is becoming quite soft and slow. That, combined with the coming
summer heat, means arduous trekking most places. Soon my bike will go into summer storage,
not to emerge until fall, except for sanity saving trips to 7000 ft. Flagstaff AZ.
