Cat Lady

WWII. A cat was called to serve his country. And he was brave, loyal, and true. Or so the story goes, as recalled by "Cat Lady" Irma St. Paule in this playful short with wonderfully inventive set design. Filmmaker Liesel de Boor grew up in Madison and recently graduated from the master's directing program at Columbia University.

The Novitiate

The Novitiate blends personal documentary with history in the story of the 1975 Menominee Warriors Society takeover of a Catholic Novitiate on the Red River near Gresham, WI, and month-long stand-off with the Wisconsin National Guard, as told by a former novice (producer Patrick Rick) as well as by a Menominee participant.

In A Garden Of Weeds

This is a story about Esperanza, a dancer/singer from Nicaragua who moves to the U.S. to try her luck at becoming famous. She meets some people who try to help out but Chicago is getting the best of her. Perhaps some wise words from an unexpected source can give her life the direction it needs? Written, directed and edited by Javier Rivera of Milwaukee, WI.

Mr. Snips

Did you ever have to sit back and politely listen to some rambling old codger? Well, this time you might want to take heed! It could save your hair! Created by Green Bay's own Mike Eserkaln of Comedy City and Matt Sloan this short tale was a very popular addition to their live stage act.

Lizard of Death

Star-crossed lovers Rip and Linda are caught in a torrid whirlwind of events that puts their love to the test. Along with their new friend Jimmy, they must survive the dizzying holocaust of destruction laying waste to their town and threatening their very lives. Armies will crumble! Cities will fall! And only one thing is certain...nothing can stop the LIZARD OF DEATH! Includes a documentary on the history of this long-lost 1959 film by Richland Center filmmakers, Ben Heckendorn, Paul Farrell, Ben Koelsch.

One Unselfish Thing

Josh is having the worst day of his life. Just when he thinks it can't get any worse someone breaks into his house and steals his TV. What does it take for him to do one unselfish thing? Written by Darby Kern and Mark Decoster and directed by Darby Kern this dramatic short received the Special Merit Award at this year's Silver Street Film Festival in Hurley, WI.

Robot Bastard!

The Robot is sent to rescue the President's daughter from the evil Blood Mamba and an army of zombie monsters. Can he do it? In the tradition of some of the best sci-fi B movies and Japanese Monster movies, here comes Robot Bastard!, written and directed by Milwaukee native Rob Schrab, creator of the Scud the Disposable Assassin comic book.

Friday Fry-Day

A mouth-watering look at Wisconsin's most distinctive culinary tradition, this documentary explores the history, traditions and folklore of the Friday Fish Fry. Friday Fry-Day visits three of the state's hottest spots, where anyone from the fish fanatic to the first-time small fry can find a real "catch". Friday Fry-Day marks the first joint venture of filmmakers Amanda Dosch, Jim Fetzer, Natasa Plecas, and Melissa Wollering.

The Hunt

Seven seasoned hunters gather in the great north woods for their annual adventure of bullets, beer, and bragging but when the whole excursion goes horribly wrong because of a bizarre accidental shooting no one is quite sure where to turn. Bad jokes and sticky situations are sure to keep you on your toes as this group of white tail warriors bury themselves in one bad decision after another. Written, directed and produced by Craig A. Knitt and shot in the lush, beautiful countryside of central Wisconsin!
