5-5-00 "Plans Are Coming Together"
Creating a web site has turned out to be an absolute nightmare! I'm using Microsoft Word which is a very basic program but most folks in-the-know turn their noses up at this program for web design. I also spent a hunk of change on Flash 4 but I'm not learning it fast enough. Tom and I met last night to throw around more ideas. As of now we'd like to get the web site up and running and purchase a new camera. "The Hunt" is pages short of being finished and I came up with a great way to effectively shoot the last scene without it costing an extra $300 - $400. It's exciting that we've finally taken a realistic stance on our future and the potential of our projects!
5-8-00 "The Process Continues"
Tom came up on Saturday with the kids. He gave me a brief run down on a script he's working on that seems to be based on the whole 'big brother is watching you' principle. We came up with some cool ideas. I'm thinking that the more ideas we have available, the more likely we are to get noticed. I also received a partial script from my cousin Joe. It's pretty good and I'm hoping he'll let us put it in the "other projects" file. Scott Menzel, an old student of mine, mentioned to me that he knows a guy with a rentable editing bay. We'll have to look into that. The web site is driving me nuts!!! But it's coming along!
5-12-00 "Further Adventures"
We now have a working title for Tom's science fiction flick. It's called "The System". Perfectly vague! Also, Cousin Joe is creating a great coming-of-age story that we'll include on the site. He calls it "Cabin Fever" and it's pretty autobiographical. I haven't been working on scripting in a few weeks as I'm trying to get this web site built! I wonder how much this would have cost us?
5-15-00 "What a Weekend!"
Spent the weekend down in Wesby, Wisconsin with my dad and brother. Didn't get much of anything done for the film but I thought about the web site some more and I think I've got it figured out. On Sunday, when I got back, the darn thing was working! Finally! Anyway, the folks down in Westby would like me to return this following weekend as my Viking character for their Norwegian festival. It might be nice for promotions as I bet I'd make the local paper and questions would be asked. I'm going to try to get up to Comedy Sportz in Green Bay tonight for another workshop. I hope Tom can go along.
5-30-00 "School's Out!"
I now have a day and a half left of school and it feels great! I am so tired! I am very anxious to get at the projects on a full time level. The past few days have been pretty exhausting trying to get everything ready for the end of the year. This last Friday I was the honored guest for the graduating seniors and it turned out to be a true honor. I made it up to Comedy Sportz in Green Bay for a double show and am hoping to to hire some of the troup as actors for "The Hunt". I still have to write a strong transition for that script but I think I've gotten a nice introduction ready. Tom and I finally got a chance to see some of "American Movie" as I picked up the DVD. We can't help but identify with Mark Borchardt in the film.
