Directions to The End of The Road

Coming from I-5:

Take exit 55 at Grants Pass (the sign says Ocean Beaches, Crescent City). It is also the truck route for Hwy. 199. We are about 40 miles from the freeway. Once off I-5, you will pass Wal-Mart, the Josephine County fairgrounds and Rogue River Community College. Then down to two lane road for a lovely, leisurely drive to the Illinois Valley.

You will go through the towns of Selma, Kerby and Cave Junction. Once you leave Cave Junction, we are about 8 miles away. If you prefer, you can call us when you are in CJ and we will meet you in O’Brien – the next town.

When you get to O’Brien (yellow flashing light on Hwy. 199) you are about 1 mile from our turn off to the house. You will cross the Illinois River and then see mile marker 37 on your right. We are the first left after mile marker 37. On Hwy. 199, you will go around a sweeping right turn and see an orange slow moving vehicle marker ahead on the left. Our road is just before that orange marker. Turn left on that paved road. It is Forest Service Road 9938.

Take the first right - Simon Azevedo Way – a dirt road and drive all the way to the end of the road. You have found us!

Coming from Hwy. 101:

Take the Hwy. 199 exit from Hwy. 101. Enjoy the lovely drive through the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park and the Smith River gorge. We are about 40 miles from Hwy. 101, but this route will take you about an hour.

You will cross the California Border into Oregon and be less than 10 minutes from our home. You will cross Elk Creek and our turn is 2-1/2 miles ahead on the right. You will come to a passing lane – once past that, our road is the first PAVED right turn (the third road on the right – but the first paved road). Turn right on that paved road. It is Forest Service Road 9938.

Take the first right - Simon Azevedo Way – a dirt road and drive all the way to the end of the road. You have found us!
