According to Alice (Hecker) Flood - July 2004 : Marie Heck had a beautiful voice. She was an opera singer in Hungary or Germany.
Madeline shared with Alice that the Meng family had been missionaries in China years ago and were granted the name Meng. Rudy told Alice that serfs in the old country and feudal Lords named all serfs : Meng.
It is believed that Marie (Meng) Heck's family name was LeFleur (French) before it was Meng.
Mary was from Botos (Botsch - pronounced "Botosh"), Hungary. It is a very pretty village.
Her Obituary states that she was a member of the Rochester Hive 898 of the Maccabees and Ladies Section Arbeiter Saengerchor.
Her funeral was at L. Schauman's Sons Parlors, 609 Clinton Avenue, Rochester, NY
Her death certificate states that she died of stomach cancer
