Nicholas played the violin and was a member of Labor Lyceum (socialist social group).

Nicholas was from Ernhaza, Hungary. This was a village that the Serbians ethnically cleansed (German Hungarians) after World War II. It is now (2004) part of Yugoslavia. ? Hungary is currently to the north of this village. The village goes back and forth from Serbian control to Yugoslavian control.

In his village in Hungary Nicholas spoke Serbian on the street, Hungarian at school and German at home.

? St. Albans, Vermont - perhaps came to US after coming to Canada by ship.

Nicholas had a fancy funeral in Rochester, NY. Many people in uniform. He was cremated at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rochester, NY and his ashes were scatterd at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Nicholas Heck was in the Hungarian Army and his job in Hungary was tax collector. He was a tax collector with his wife's brother, Michael Meng.

According to his obituary he was a member of Siegel Tent 135, Maccabees, Workman's Sick and Death Benefit Society and Arbeller Saenger Chor.

His funeral was at L. Schauman's Sons Funeral Parlors, 609 Clinton Ave, Rochester, NY

His death certificate states the following conditions at time of death: hypertensive heart disease, nephrosclerosis due to healed tuberculosis of lungs, and uremia. He died at 3:45 am. The Doctor's name was Sefed G. Ebel, 922 Dewey Avenue. At the time of his death he and Grandma (Marie) were living with William and Yvonne Heck, 11 Hoeltzer Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York.
