Memories from Randy Beachner:
Carlton was a B-29 pilot during World War II and participated in the Airlift of Berlin. According to Randy, every 20 minutes a plane would take off for Berlin bringing the people supplies when the Russians had the city surrounded at the end of the war. Carlton was in Germany for about two years during the war. He remembered that Carlton learned how to play Bridge while he was there.
Randy remembered jumping the Rochester Yacht Club fence with Carlton when they were kids and they were literally thrown out and told to never come back again unless they were invited!
By chance, in 1942 when Randy got married to Shirley, Randy ran into Carlton and Marian at a government controlled facility in Fayettville, N.C. and they had some wine together to catch up on old times.
Carlton married Marian Estella Cook. (Marian Estella Cook was born on 20 Jul 1918 2 and died in Jun 1968 3.)
