bullet  General Notes:

According to a conversation with Belinda Savadge, a genealogical researcher, where she read a copy of Jessie's death certificate to me, Jessie was killed instantly by a falling tree. His wife was listed as Mrs. E. J. White and his father was listed as William C. White. The doctor listed was O. E. Schankel.

Obituary as found in the Commerce News, July 21, 1927 in Commerce, Georgia:

JAMES B. WHITE INSTANTLY KILLED BY FALLING TREE

Mr. James B. White aged 58 years, who resided four miles south of Commerce in the Barea settlement was killed by a falling tree at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, July 19, 1927. He and others had been rebuilding a bridge on Sandy Creek during the forenoon and when the heavy rain came just afternoon, they took shelter in nearby homes. Returning after the rain to see what damage had resulted from the the heavy rains they were standing on or near the bank of th stream. Nearby the water had undermined a long heavy dead gum tree and the tree fell, breaking Mr. White's neck and shoulder, his arm in two places and his leg in two places, producing instant death. Mr. Chandler and son who were there barely escaped, being brushed by the falling tree.
Mr. White was a well known citizen of the community and his death is a great shock to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife and five sons and one daughter. Also by two brothers, one at Monroe and the other in South Georgia.
The interment was made at Cabin Creek Wednesday afternoon with religious services conducted by Rev. Moore, of Winder.

Notes about obituary: Either Jesse went by James or James was a clerical error. Cemetery records at Cabin Creek do have Jessie B. White with Eritha J. White buried together and no James B. White. Another interesting fact about the obituary is that the surviving sibling statement is accurate except that his sister Susan Elizabeth White Sailors was not mentioned and she was still living at the time.

Information handed down through brother John Henry White's family says that Jesse did not share father William C. White's estate with John's family. John Henry died prior to father William dieing in 1913.
